Kareena's mom to be her neighbour

kaeena kapoorwill be shifting residence in July this year, but before people think she's flying the family coop, here's the truth! Kareena's mother Babita will be staying in the flat opposite her. Says a source close to Kareena, "Bebo and Babita have been staying at park avenue in Bandra for the last few years. But a few months ago, the mother-daughter duo bought two flats in Khar on the same floor, one facing the other.

Contrary to most new star homes Kareena's pad won't be a spacious 3 BHK. It's a cosy pad almost like an independent unit where Bebo can entertain her visitors and friends without disturbing her mother, who is just a doorbell away."

Kareena's new flat is being done by akshay kumar's wife, interior designer, twinkle khanna. Says Kareena, "Apart from being a close friend, Tina knows my taste. She has a beautiful sense of style and I have left everything to her. She has a free hand to do what she wants." Babita's flat is not being done up by Twinkle.The actresses' new home will be "cosy and comfortable. It has got earthy tones with a wooden finish and the colour scheme is dramatic and flamboyant gold and dark colours. She adds, "My bedroom is my favourite place, where I like to relax after a hard day's shoot. I love watching films, so I will house my DVD collection there." Kareena's new flat is 10 minutes away from Saif's new flat in Bandra.Continues Bebo, "The flat is quite empty right now. Twinkle had dropped in a couple of months ago to see the place. The basic groundwork is done now. Three months more and the building and interior designing part will be over." Incidentally, Twinkle has designed rani mukerjee's and tabu's homes.

Aishwarya launches Anupam Kher’s son

Gorgeous Aishwarya Bachchan introduced to the film world and the media a new budding star Sikander Kher, the son of legendry actor Anupam Kher and talented actress Kiron Kher.
Sikander had stepped into the domain which is already won by his parents through their flawless and brilliant acting. He ventured into Bollywood with Summer 2007 directed by Vivek Agnihotri under Adlabs & Atul Productions. On Tuesday March 25, 2008, Aishwarya launched him to the world of glamour. It was a star-studded affair at Hotel The Club, Mumbai. Many people from film fraternity attended the function to shower their blessing and wished Sikandar good wishes. The evening kick started with a soothing music by music director Gourov Dasgupta with singers Sharib and Toshi.
Recently, the movie Summer 2007 was unveiled to the media. It is the story of five medical students who go out to fulfill their dream and at last get to interact with reality. It stars, Sikander Kher along with former Miss India Gul Panag, debut Yuvika Choudhary, Arjan Bajwa, Alekh Sangal, Vikram Gokhale, Sachin Khedekar, Prashant Narayanan, Shweta Menon, Ashutosh Rana and Neetu Chandra in a special appearance. Hope, Sikander shines like a bright star in the tinselville. The film is slated to release in May.

Shilpa shetty = Main bhi producer

If the long list was not enough, the next celeb to join the band wagon of actor-turned-producer is hot hot Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. She is all set to produce a yet untitled big budget action-comedy film under her production house S2 Global Productions.
The film will have two heroines with obviously Shilpa playing the one. Search is on for the second role. According to her publicist, Bhagwagar, Shilpa has now become choosy about her roles and takes up only those which give her complete creative satisfaction.
Shilpa’s forthcoming movies include Sunny Deol and Neeraj Pathak’s ‘The Man’, and an international venture titled ‘Hanuman’ with filmmaker Uru Patel. ’The Man’ has Shilpa portraying the role of a simple, dedicated girl who rises to instant global stardom - very similar to her real life experience. In ‘Hanuman’, she would be portraying Goddess Sita.
Our only concern are the tattoos on Shilpa’s body. So, what do we see next? A tattooed Sita?

Ranbir kapoor and deepika padukone - love birds in bangkok

Bangkok suddenly seems to be have become the second home for Bollywood these days. Saying so, coz recall all the Bollywood stars and half of them are in Bangkok either for work or fun (read pleasure). Neera Vora’s ‘Shortcut’ has let 4 A-stars (Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Arshad Warsi and Amrita Rao) have work and play in this fun city. Also stationed in Bangkok is another A-star, Akshay Kumar, who is shooting for Nikhil Advani’s ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ with pretty and nubile co-star Deepika Padukone.
Talking about Deepika, Ranbir Kapoor could just not be left out. So, instead of leaving his prized possession in the hands of ill famous Bollywood playboy, Akshay Kumar, (Don’t’ mind Twinkle!), the Kapoor prince decided to fly off to Bangkok to guard his lady love. Ranbir got an assignment to do a photoshoot for Filmfare magazine in Bangkok and, knowing that Deepika was already there, the actor lapped it up excitedly.
On Friday, he left for Bangkok for the photoshoot. Now, the love birds are surely painting the city of Bangkok red.

Lara dutta quits 'the unforgettable tour' due to her knee injury

The Bachchans’ ‘The Unforgettable Tour’ has suffered yet another setback. After Akshay Kumar, it is now Lara Dutta who has backed out of the much awaited tour. Lara had to do so because of her knee injury.
‘I have injured my knee and have been asked by the doctors not to strain it further. Since I am also doing a big action film this year, going on the tour for three months will only aggravate my injury. So, unfortunately and regretfully I have had to withdraw from the ‘Unforgettable Tour’,’ she said in a press release.
‘The Unforgettable Tour’ was unveiled last year in Toronto and Big B will start touring the world next month along with son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya. Bipasha Basu and Riteish Deshmukh are still there with the Bachchans to add glamour to the show.

The hot pair : urmila matondkar and himesh reshammiya

It is stale by now that Urmila Matondkar is playing the challenging role of Kamini for the remake of Subhash Ghai’s ‘Karz’. The role was played by Simi Garewal in the original version. Himesh Reshammiya is playing the lead role in this Satish Kaushik remake which has been named ‘Karzzzz’.
Recently, Himesh and Urmila completed a 40-day outdoor shoot in South Africa and Johannesberg for the movie. The duo is also set to shoot an item song soon. The song which has been sung by queen of item songs Sunidhi Chauhan is called ‘Tandoori Nights’. To be known that this song was not there in the original flick.
Urmila has been given a makeover for her look in the film. Comments Himesh, “Urmila’s glam look has been styled by Manish Malhotra, and producer Bhushan Kumar had a certain concept in mind and he told Manish what he wanted. It’s a blend of elegance and oomph, pastels with shimmer and satin.” Himesh’s look has been designed by his sister Rupa.
This is the first time that Himesh will be seen with Urmila on screen and Himesh is full of praise for his co-star, “She’s a super professional artiste who is always on time and even after working for so many years in the industry she works for a scene like a newcomer; which is commendable.”

Celina jeitley faces abuse from pakistani cricketers

This one is the third incident of abuse and insult with Celina Jaitley, friends! This time the devil comes from the guests from across the border.
This Sunday, Celina Jaitley was in Delhi for her performance at the Indian Cricket League’s match between Pakistan and India. However, after she had finished her performance and was leaving with her security personnel around the stadium, she heard loud abuses in Hindi coming out of the Pakistani players’ enclosure.
Though she refuses to share the nastier comments or to put blame on anyone, some of the less abrasive comments she heard included, “Move her away, she is spoiling the mood of the entire match,” and “Why does she need such heavy security? Is she Osama Bin Laden?”
Recalls Celina with a shudder, “At first I couldn’t believe where it was coming from. I still want to give them the benefit of the doubt because it’s so hard to believe they could behave this way.” Celina wanted to rush out of the spot to her car, “But I couldn’t because the security guys wouldn’t let me pass. So I was stuck listening to myself being described in the most colorful language.”
This certainly isn’t a friendly gesture coming from sports to entertainment!

Salman's request to launch Arbaaz

Well, we all know that director Boney Kapoor is making a film with Salman Khan. The film will be a remake of 'Pokiri'. But what is news is that Salman has decided to do this with a cut in his payment for the film.
And what will Boney Kapoor do in favor? The director has decided to launch Arbaaz Khan, the brother of Salman in a single hero subject. All this happened when Salman walked in to Boney Kapoor with this request to launch his brother in a single hero subject.
The actor also suggested that if Boney was willing to produce the film then Salman will make a concession in his remuneration in 'Pokhiri' remake.
This film that will launch Arbaaz in a sole-hero topic will be jointly produced by Boney Kapoor and Salman Khan. Boney is currently getting the script in place after which they will decide on the director.

Madonna in Mumbai this week

It’s ‘Like a Prayer’ come true for many; 49-year-old multiple Grammy and Golden Globe award winner, international pop sensation Madonna, will be here, in aamchi Mumbai this week. In India on a private visit with husband Guy Ritchie, her son and a couple of friends, the singing ‘Evita’ is currently touring Rajasthan, where she brought in the new year in a village near Jodhpur. “She is here on a holiday, it is a personal visit to India and is not work-related at all. She does not want people to know about her visit here,” revealed a source. Madonna seems to be making full paisa vasool of her Rajasthan sojourn — she celebrated New Year’s eve at Wilderness Camp, 55 km from Jodhpur, listening to folk songs and watching traditional dancers perform. A village safari the next day, where Madonna rode horseback and interacted with villagers, a traditional Rajasthani meal and a night’s stay at Jodhpur’s famous Umaid Bhawan Palace was also part of her itinerary. She was also scheduled to have lunch with the former ruler of Jodhpur, Maharaja Gaj Singhji II. Moreso, the ‘La Isla Bonita’ singer is believed to be making a quick stopover in Mumbai too, apart from her sight-seeing visit to Jaisalmer and Udaipur, during her week-long trip to India. According to sources, the singer has booked an entire floor of a South Mumbai five-star and has arranged for special security from Israel. And even though she doesn’t want Papa — or anyone else for that matter — to preach about her whereabouts, Mumbai sure is looking forward to this ‘Beautiful Stranger’! "

'I’m lucky to work with Ranbir & Rishi'

It may take yesteryear lover boy Rishi Kapoor and his son Ranbir some time to showcase their talent together. But, the young actor’s girlfriend Deepika Padukone already has that privilege. She will be sharing screen space with Rishi in Saif Ali Khan’s first production to be directed by Imtiaz Ali of Jab We Met fame. “I did a reading with Rishi uncle for the film, and I was simply stunned. He’s that good. Imtiaz’s film will be a departure for me,” informed Deepika. “I’m lucky enough to work with both Ranbir and Rishi uncle. Now, all I need is a film with Neetu aunty to complete the picture,” she added. The actress, who debuted with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om , will play Saif’s leading lady in the yet untitled film. “I’m definitely looking forward to working with Saif. He’s one of the best actors we’ve ever had,” she said. But, before that, Deepika is currently shooting for Nikhil Advani’s action flick Chandni Chowk To China with Akshay Kumar. “I’ve trained in martial arts for the film and I enjoyed myself thoroughly because I’m athletic. People see me as very ladylike and proper. But, there’s another, very tomboyish side of me that you’ll see in Chandni Chowk To China ,” she said. However, her first release after Om Shanti Om would be Yash Raj Films’ Bachna Ae Haseenon . In the film, Deepika has to share her boyfriend Ranbir with two other leading ladies. “Yes, but that’s only for the screen, no?” she quipped. “It is Ranbir’s film all the way. In my very first narration, I was sure I wanted to do it...Siddharth Anand was honest enough to tell me there were three other girls with Ranbir in the film — now, of course, there’re only two other girls!”

Today, I have time to myself and can do things which maybe I always wanted to do but never could. From where I am at this point in life, things are looking up. Vidya Balan is single and ready to mingle

She was the classic Lolita of Parineeta — fresh, untouched and innocent. Having tasted success from the word go, the actress has become controversy’s child overnight, and a person people will love to hate. At least earlier media reports make us believe so. That’s the reason she watches her tongue when we ask her about Eklavya qualifying as India’s official entry at the Oscars. “It’ll be unfair for me to comment on the process of selection. I know this is a delicate issue and subjugated by controversy and opinions. All I’ll say is that on an individual level, as an actor, it feels very nice when your film goes one step further. I’m very happy,” she says. But what Vidya isn’t too happy about is her Western avatar in Heyy Babyy. “The film was declared a hit. I enjoyed the experience although I had enough and more lessons to learn. I know I was criticised for my clothes, and maybe even rightly so. Manish Malhotra and I took it a little easy. We should’ve been more careful, especially since this was the first time I was going Western. I believe that I shortchanged myself, and could have been presented in a far better manner,” she explains. Now is that why the actress took things in her own hands, when she recently fired designer Aki Narula in Toronto? “I didn’t fire anybody. But I do call a spade a spade. And I am honest. As an actor, I was never fastidious about my costumes till now, but a sense of realisation has set in, and I know what a big difference it makes, not only to me as an actor, but also to the entire film,” justifies Vidya. So what does Vidya say when some ‘important people’ (read: directors) call her arrogant? “Really? I wasn’t aware of that one,” she tells us wide-eyed. “What do I do if I don’t like a script or don’t connect with it? I’m not the type to say I have ‘date problems’ when I don’t have ‘date problems’. If I’ve genuinely not liked the script or my role in it, I say so, and if people can’t accept that, so be it. To each his own!” When are we going to hear of the other kind of ‘date problems’? Some interesting ‘love stories’? “I’ve been single too long. I want to be with someone, but nothing has happened so far,” she tells us hopelessly. “But with the number of false link-ups, I doubt anyone would even want to be with me.” It all comes with being a celeb, dearie, we remind her. “I know. It’s all a package deal. Frankly, I enjoy being an actress, and the perks that come with it.” And ‘love’ just went out of the window.

Vivek comes between Saif and Kareena

The Mahima Kiss story

The most beautiful reply in a Q & A session with Mahima Chaudhry came when she was asked, “What gives you hope?” This was in London recently, after the screening of her new film, Hope and a Little Sugar at the BAFTA theatre. She smiled benignly and said, “My little daughter. She has brought back my innocence!” The audience burst into appreciative laughter, as Mahima and Tanuja Chandra, who has directed the film, soaked in the warmth of a successful screening. “We had a packed house, much of which surprisingly, was non-Indian,” says Tanuja, thrilled by the applause her film evoked at the end of the show. “And it was great to have Meera Syal in the audience! I am a fan of her work, so it felt really good that she loved the film, and afterwards kept throwing flying kisses to Mahima for her performance!” Which reminds us of the other time Mahima had everyone giggling away as she related the kissa of a kiss! “I was in a relationship with someone when I was approached for this film, so I was uncomfortable kissing on screen. Tanuja was in talks with other actresses as well, who incidentally did not have problems with the kiss. However, her producers changed and things didn’t work out with those actresses. And coincidentally, my relationship too broke off ! So upon finding out that Tanuja hadn’t finalised a heroine, I called her and announced, I am ready to kiss! And so, I sit in front of you today, gathering accolades — all because of a little kiss!” The audience clapped at Mahima’s candid wit, which has only become sharper with marriage and motherhood. This is the first English-language film for both these feisty ladies, and also stars Anupam Kher in a searing role. The all-India release is expected very soon.

Bachchans in trouble again

Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek, who walked through the green channel at Sahar airport in April with imported dutiable goods worth Rs 1 crore without paying duty, are likely to face a show-cause notice from the DRI for alleged violation of the Customs Act, customs officials said.When contacted on Tuesday, Bachchan Sr said he and his son had recently paid the duty in full, and there were no outstandings.The goods, reportedly purchased from Harrods in London on the eve of the Abhishek-Aishwarya Rai wedding on April 19, would have attracted duty of about Rs 36 lakh, customs sources told this paper. Father and son had travelled separately within days of each other just before the wedding. The goods they brought with them were collectively valued at Rs 1 crore.According to these sources, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in Mumbai got a tip-off about three months ago that the duo had walked through the green channel on their return from London without paying the duty. The DRI then got cracking and took the help of customs for the investigation.The father-son duo was contacted by DRI and asked whether they had in fact brought in these goods, most of which comprised men’s accessories. Customs officials said Amitabh and Abhishek claimed that they did not know that the goods they had purchased were dutiable.Sources in the customs added that the duty was then promptly paid. However, they noted, since the Customs Act had been violated, a detailed showcause notice was likely to be issued to them soon. A show-cause notice under the Customs Act is the equivalent of a chargesheet under the IPC.

Spot boy steals Priyanka Chopra's watch

A spot boy on the sets of the film Champu was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly stealing a wrist watch worth Rs one lakh that belongs to actor priyanka chopra. The theft occurred when she was shooting for the movie at Thakur College in Thakurgaon, Kandivli (E).Sub-inspector Kishor Naik, Samata Nagar police station, said, “Chopra claims to have kept the Tag Heuer watch, along with some other personal belongings, in her vanity van when she stepped out for filming. She had asked Arvind Upadhyaya, 29, a spot boy, to sort her belongings and keep an eye on them.”Some time later, Upadhyaya allegedly went to Chopra and said he could not find the watch in the van. On completion of filming, Chopra went back to the van and began searching for the watch.“She suspected Upadhyaya. When we searched his bag, we found the watch,” said Naik. Upadhyaya, a resident of Mira Road, has been booked for theft.

Pamela Anderson has learned that serving as an illusionist’s assistant is a risky business after a recent show with pal Hans Klok left her burned and injured. The actress-cummodel has just returned from Berlin, Germany, where she performed with Klok, which left her more than a little bumped and bruised. She says, “I got scorched and I think I may have thrown a rib out. There’s one trick... where the spikes go through the box and it got really close and I ended up going backstage and going, ‘Woo, that was close’.” Anderson spent much of 2007 playing assistant to Klok in Las Vegas. Anderson is currently hoping to annul her brief marriage to poker player Rick Salomon. Instead of divorcing Paris Hilton’s ex-boyfriend, the former Baywatch babe has cited ‘fraud’ in court papers, filed in Los Angeles recently.

Aamir Khan’s finally done it! After weeks of speculation about will he, won’t he, and when, Aamir has at last gone for the shaven look everyone’s been talking about. And, no surprises that the actor let us have the first dekho at the new look that he’ll sport in Ghajini.Aamir overcame his initial nervous moments as hairstylist Avan Contractor set to work on him at his Pali Hill residence in the presence of his wife Kiran Rao, close friends including lyricist and an ad filmmaker Prasoon Joshi, photographer Avinash Gowarikar, designer Arjun Bhasin and director A R Murugadoss. A source revealed, “Kiran and Prasoon constantly joked about Aamir going taklu. That made Aamir all the more nervous. So, he requested Avan to go real slow and chop his hair inch by inch and finally create a scar with the razor. The entire process started at around 11 and took almost one-and a half hour.”Looking a far cry from his long-haired Mangal Pandey avatar, the actor was quite happy with the end result. “In fact, Kiran remarked that he looked quite dashing,” the source said. Aamir said, “Ghajini is an action thriller and this look is an important dimension to the character I’m playing. I’m very happy with the way it has turned out.” He was so happy with his cut that they had an impromptu dinner party to celebrate the new look. Known to be a thorough professional, Aamir alongwith the director and Avan spent weeks trying to work out this look.

In Farah’s movie, I play a movie star of today. And with all respect, today’s stars are so physically fit, that I had to work on myself harder. Especially in the second half, I play this really cool guy. I take my shirt off as the first character too, but as the second hero, I went all out.” Meaning, at the rate India was taking over the world, would he possibly do a ‘full frontal’ in a Hollywood film if offered? He blushed a deep beetroot. “No! No! Never! I don’t do kissing scenes. I don’t do love-making scenes and I will not do a full frontal scene. I’m too shy for any of that. I just can’t. And because I can’t, I’ve set certain rules for myself. I can’t dance either, but that’s something I can work at. And this is as ‘naked’ as I’ll get. Frankly, it was just Farah for whom I did this. I’d promised her that the first time I bared onscreen it would be for her. And even though all my directors — Yashji, Adi, Karan, Aziz, Abbas-Mustan, etc. — love me, Farah is my only lady director. And I’d rather take my clothes off for a girl.” But with girls finding him sexy even with shirt on, why step on the testosterone now? He grinned, “I decided to get ‘sexy’ for a boy … my son. He kept telling me to go get a six-pack. He’d say that Salman, Hrithik, John were the ‘good physiques’. And even though I’ve always been fit, never fat, he wanted me to get abs, so I did. For SRK, who is all set to host the kids’ quiz show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai on television, has admitted that teaching has always been a secret passion with him. “The show allows me to fulfill my childhood dream,” reveals the actor who’s more of a moderator than a teacher on air. But then, this is the closest he can get to playing a mentor to kids, for now at least.SRK’s pranks as a student himself, are legendary. “School was fun, I was very naughty, but I was very studious as well,” says the prankster, “I used to force my teachers to dance with me. I also remember blowing up something in the chemistry lab once.” He still retains his sense of mischief and the kid in him surfaces when the star is in his favourite role — that of doting dad to Suhana and Aryan. Kids need their parents to be both — responsible as well as friends they can trust and have fun with, believes SRK. And it’s the confidence he has garnered as a parent that he hopes will help him face kids on his show now. Armed with this experience, the actor’s ready for the barrage of ‘childish’ questions he’s expecting. “I don’t find any question that a kid asks childish, and no childish questions are stupid. When my own children ask me questions, the answers are on the tip of my tongue, but I often can’t answer at that point of time. It’s not that I don’t know; it sometimes is hard to recollect at the right moment, you know,” says SRK. Ji masterji!
